Phillies backing off Ramirez, Polanco not being shopped

December 7, 2011

The Phillies seem to be backing off on the pursuit of Aramis Ramirez.

According to Luke Adams of MLBTradeRumors.com, the Phillies are no longer trying to shop their current third baseman Placido Polanco, while looking to sign Ramirez to take over at third.

This indicates that the Phillies are confident that they will be able to re-sign Jimmy Rollins at short, as the interest in Ramirez, and the possible trade of Polanco was dependant on if Rollins decided to re-sign with Philadelphia.
