CSNPhilly.com's Jim Salisbury is reporting that the Phillies held a private workout for Yoenis Cespedes on Tuesday.Former GM Pat Gillick attended the workout in place of Ruben Amaro Jr., who was in Milwaukee for the winter meetings.
Cespedes is a 26 year old Cuban free agent. He is unproven at the Major League level, but is labeled with a $30 million asking price.
The organization has a history of looking at big name free agents. However, it is extremely unlikely that the club will land Cespedes, mainly for the high asking price and the uncertainty that he will be able to live up to the contract.
