After having an MRI yesterday, it has been confirmed that he has ruptured his left Achilles and he will need surgery.
Wait it gets worse. Howard will not be able to have surgery until the swelling in his tendon goes down.
And the bad news is still not done. The timetable for Howard's return will not be known until after he has surgey, but the Phillies have stated that he could very well miss spring training and even the first two months of the next season.
