In 2008, Pat Burrell took his last at-bat as a Phillie. It was in the World Series, when game five finally resumed after the infamous rain delay.

Burrell hit a 400 foot double that was just inches away from being a home run, but regardless it drove in Geoff Jenkins, who was on second, and helped the Phillies capture their first World Series title in 28 years and the city of Philadelphia's first championship in 25.

Burrell, who was the longest tenured Phillie at the time, lead the way during the World Series parade ith his dog Elvis. An image that will last forever in the midn of every Phillies fan.

After the World Series, Burrell and the Phillies parted ways.

Burell spent 2009 and part of 2010 with the Tampa Bay Rays, before being traded to the San Fransisco Giants where he would win one more championship. In 2011, a foot injury forced him to retire.

However, the 35-year old Burrell will be officially retiring as a Philadelphia Phillie next month.

Burrell will sign a one-day contract and will be honored by the Phillies on May 19th, before their game against the Boston Red Sox. He will officially retire then.

Burrell was the number one overall pick by the Phillies in the 1998 draft. He played nine seasons for the team.
