It was not a good day for Philadelphia sports.

The Flyers came up short in their game against the Penguins, then the Phillies came up short against the Pirates.

The Phillie's biggest issue reared its ugly head. They could not produce runs.

Like on Thursday, the Phillies scored only one run. However, it was not enough this time.

The game went into extra innings, and the Pirates won in 10 by a final of 2-1.

In the first inning both Shane Victorino and Placido Polanco singled to open up the game. In the third at-bat, Jimmy Rollins advanced Victorino to third and Polanco to second on a sacrifice bunt.

With one out, Hunter Pence singled off a ground ball to second that the Pirate's Neil Walker could not make a play on. Victorino scored and Pence earned an RBI for the Phillies only run of the game.

Cliff Lee was solid in his first start of the 2012 season, but a wild pitch in the sixth inning cost him.

After pitch hitter Yamaico Navarro was walked and Jose Tabata singled, Alex Presely loaded the bases off a ground ball that second baseman Freddy Galvis could not make a play for the force out on.

In the next at-bat against Andrew McCutchen, Lee threw a pitch that got past Carlos Ruiz. Navarro was able to score from third to tie the game 1-1.

Lee pitched 6.0 innings, struck out four, walked two, and allowed an earned run off of two hits.

Pittsburgh's starter Jeff Karstens also pithced 6.0 innings. Karstens had two strikeouts, a walk, and gave up an earned run on five hits.

Both the Phillies and the Pirates used various releivers after they pulled there starters.

With two outs in the ninth inning, with Hunter Pence at second after a single and a stolen base, and Carlos Ruiz on first after a walk, Freddy Galvis had a very good oppurtunity to get his first major league hit. But Joel Hanrahan got Galvis to strike out swinging.

The Pirates also had a chance to score in the ninth. With one out, Andrew McCutchen singled to center, then stole second base. But Michael Stutes (0.2 IP), and Antonio Bastardo (0.1 IP) combined to send the game into extras.

In the bottom of the tenth, Joe Blanton was sent in to pitch. Blanton gave up a double to Rod Barajas in the Pirate's first at-bat of the inning.

Michael McKenry was sent in to pinch-run for Barajas.

McKenry advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt from Clint Barmes.

After Joe Harrison was hit by a pitch, Jose Tabata hit a pop up to Galvis for the second out.

Alex Presely, with two outs, hit a slow rolling ground ball to short. Rollins was able to get to it and make a throw to first, but Presely beat the throw.

Presely was safe, McKenry scored, and the Pirates won 2-1 in 10 innings.

Joe Blanton got credit for the loss, he is now 0-1.

Pittsburgh's Jaun Cruz pitched in the 10th, he was given the win (1-0).

The Phillies and Pirates will play the final game of a three game series on Sunday afternoon. Vance Worley will be on the mound for the Phillies.
