Roy Halladay pitched eight innings, only allowing two hits in the first. Jonathan Papelbon closed the game with a 1-2-3 inning to give the Phillies a 1-0 shutout win. Carlos Ruiz drove in the only run of the game in the seventh inning. Ruiz hit a sacrifice fly to bring in Ty Wigginton from third. Wigginton singled to get on base, then advanced to third off a Jonh Mayberry Jr. double.

Players to Watch

- Carlos Ruiz went 3-for-4 on Thursday, and drove in the Opening Day game's only run.

- Jonh Mayberry Jr. went 2-for-4, hitting a double that helped set up Thursday's only run of the game.

- Cliff Lee threw six shutouts in 2011, and has told CSNPhilly.com's Jim Salisbury that he is "ready" for his first start of the regular season. If Lee has his curveball tonight, the Pirates will have a tough time getting on base.
