Braves beat Mets 1-0, Phillies need win to clinch

September 17, 2011

If the Phillies want to clinch the division tonight, their going to have to beat the Cardinals to do so.

The Braves shutout the Mets 1-0 at Turner Field. Tim Hudson went eight innings, striking out 10 and only allowing four hits. Craig Kimbrel struck out the side in the ninth to earn his 45th save of the season.

Chipper Jones produced the lone run of the game in the eighth, with an RBI single to center, that scored Jason Heyward.

Going in to tonight's game against St. Louis, the Phillies' magic number is just one.

Roy Oswalt (7-9, 3.85 ERA) will be on the mound tonight against the Cardinals' Jake Westbrook (12-8, 4.60 ERA).

The Cardinals won in extras last night, let's hope the Phillies can bounce back and get the win.
