Phillies at Mets: Game 1 (Doubleheader) Notes

September 23, 2011

Last night's game will be played today as part of a day-night doubleheader after heavy rain showed no signs of stopping.

The Phillies are hoping to end their six game losing streak at Citi Field today. This is the Phillies worst losing streak since June 16-21, 2009.

The Phillies are looking for some wins, and Charlie Manuel finally having his everyday lineup back helps tremendously.

Philadelphia Phillies (98-58, 46-29 Road) at New York Mets (74-82, 31-44 Home)
1:10 PM at Citi Field in New York, NY

Pitching Matchup
LHP Cole Hamels (14-9, 2.80 ERA) vs RHP R.A. Dickey (8-13, 3.35 ERA)

Other Notes
- Rightfielder Hunter Penceis expected to return to the lineup today. Pence has been out since Tuesday with mild patellar tendon strain.
- First baseman Ryan Howard also returns to the lineup today for the first time since clinching the NL East last week. Howard has been sitting out with left hell bursitis. He received a cortisone shot on Monday to help relieve the pain.
