Phillies at Nationals: Game 1 Notes

After a win against Arizona that ended at midnight, the Phillies got on a train and headed to Washington for a three game series against the Nationals that begins tonight. Here are the notes for game one:

Matchup
The Phillies and Nationals will face-off for the second time in a week. In the last series, the teams split the first two games, the Nationals won the first game 4-2 last Friday, and the Phillies won the second game 11-3 the next day. The third game at Citizens Bank Park was rained out and has been rescheduled for September 20th. Heading into this series, the Phillies are 7-4 against the Nationals this season.

The teams will not play each other again until September 20-22 in Philadelphia. A day-night double header is scheduled to make up for the game that was rained out on August 14th.

Extra Notes
Shane Victorino will be serving the final game of his two game suspension, which began last night against the Diamondbacks. Ryan Howard (Hand) and Carlos Ruiz (Groin) did not play last night due to minor injuries. Howard and Ruiz are day-to-day, and at the time of this writing, it is unknown if they will be in the lineup tonight.

The Phillies are 7-3 in their last 10 games, and have a two game win streak. The Nationals are 5-5 in their last 10 games, winning their last game at home against Cinncinati 3-1.
