Reliever Jose Contreras will be out for the rest of the season with an elbow injury.
Contreras will have exploratory surgery as soon as possible. He has no ligament damage, and his injury is expected to be caused by either a tendon or a muscle.
Contreras has been on the DL since June 20th. According to general manager Ruben Amaro Jr., Contreras will need 4-6 months to recover.
