Polanco confident to be ready for Mets series

August 21, 2011

Third Baseman Placido Polanco has been on the disabled list since August 7th with a sports hernia. He received a cortisone shot last week and is confident that he will be activated for Monday's series opener against the New York Mets.

Polanco will likely have surgery during the off-season, but for now plans to play throught the pain that went from what he said was a six to describe the pain on a 1-10 scale. He described the pain as a nine earlier in the month before he went on the DL.

Polanco stated that he feels better than he did before the Phillies arrived in Washington for the Nationals series.
