Thome expected to be claimed by White Sox

August 24, 2011

According to ESPN.com's Buster Olney, the Chicago White Sox are expected to claim Jim Thome off waivers.

Rumours were going around that there was a strong possibility that Thome could return to Philadelphia, but now we have to wait to see what happens .

Thome has a no-trade clause in his contract with the Minnesota Twins, so he has the right to refuse to go to the team that claims him.

Thome had stints with both the Phillies and the White Sox, from 2003-2005 and 2006- August 2009 respectively.
